We heard about St. Patrick's Cemetery from the Internet,
shadowlands.net, to be specific. It stated that three years
ago someone was investigating this spot and they felt "an
immediate overwhelming urgency to leave feeling", along
with cold spots and feeling extremely uncomfortable. Also,
it claims that a local group of investigators claim they got
EVPs with a child playing "peek-a-boo" and evil growling
noises. Our first impression was that it sounded like a
typical urban legend spread from one local teen to another.
But, being open minded and optimistically-skeptical, we
decided we should check it out before forming any opinion.
In late September 2006, a couple of us decided to stop by
one evening to investigate. We planned our arrival so that
we were there a little over an hour before sunset, since
being there after dark is not permitted. We remained until
about a half hour after sunset. Our investigation began near
the rear of the cemetery, by the woods, since those who
investigated there before stated that the further into the
cemetery they would go the more uncomfortable it became.
Beginning with the usual routine of setting up video, and
wireless audio, we then proceeded with taking still photos
and monitoring for EMF spikes. Once we finished here, we
worked our way out towards the front of the cemetery,
where the oldest graves are actually located. The oldest
marker we found was dated 1873. There may be older ones,
though. We found just the tops of some headstones, it
seems, as though over time, the stones are being swallowed
by the hillside. One thing we noticed, the entire time, was
how calm and peaceful the place felt. Not once did we have
any unusual feelings, sensations, or anxiety.
There are several houses that run along the upper side of
the cemetery, going back towards the woods. We noticed a
child's swing-set in the backyard of one of the houses.
Could this account for the sound of a child playing
"peek-a-boo"? Perhaps. On several occasions we became
aware of the sound of dogs barking off in the distance. They
showed up on the audio recordings, too. So, it is possible
that may account for any "evil growling noises" that were
recorded. Or, at that very least, it can't be ruled out.
After reviewing the evidence, we found no anomalies. That,
together with the lack of personal experiences and basic
intuition, we have concluded to our satisfaction that St.
Patrick's Cemetery is not haunted. So, if you still intend to
go there looking for ghosts, don't get your hopes up.
Nothing much going on here

Just a "shot in the darK"

A blurry photo, but it does show how close a few houses are to the cemetery
