Riverview Cemetery &
Quincy Hill
Parkersburg, WV
In October of 2004, 3 members and 1 guest traveled to
"Haunted" Parkersburg, West Virginia, to do some investigating
of our own.  Tom had done a tremendous amount of research
on the area, and we all agreed that it would be something very
interesting to explore.

We began by attending a walking Ghost Tour lead by
paranormal author Susan Sheppard.  We began at the
allegedly haunted Blennerhassett Hotel.  She discussed the
story of William N. Chancellor, whose spirit allegedly haunts the
hotel still to this day.  We were able to view many homes that
are purportedly haunted, but weren't able to enter any of them,
as they are privately owned.  We also visited Mr. Chancellor's
1878 Federal Style home and the Captain's house (a.k.a. The
Markey House).  The tour concluded at Riverview Cemetery,
which we were not able to enter, as it was locked this night.  We
did not visit Quincy Hill, but Ms. Sheppard did inform us of the
"East End Ghoul" and the "Ghost of Silver Run".

Later that night, we made a return visit to the gated cemetery.
We decided to see what we could do, so we began shooting
pictures from different areas.  We obtained multiple pictures
with possible orbs, and one very nice shot of what appears to
be ectoplasm.  Because we could not legally enter the
cemetery, we decided to end the investigation here for the night.

Two days later, after two of us had to leave for home, the
remaining two explored Riverview Cemetery during the daytime.
We took many still pictures, monitored the equipment for any
temperature changes and conducted EMF sweeps of the area.
Especially around the Weeping Woman stature, for it is said
that if a woman should touch the statue, she will become
pregnant within the year.  Needles to say, the one female
present remained a good distance away.  At dusk we proceed
to Quincy Hill, another purportedly haunted area.  It turned out
to be a bit of a disappointment.  After a very long trek up the
stone steps in the hillside, Quincy Hill turned out to just be a
quaint little park in a residential neighborhood.  We still
performed our usual routine, however, no evidence or
anomalies were found.  Overall, we obtained a few nice pictures
of Riverview Cemetery, had a good time, but found nothing to
substantiate any paranormal activity.

With so many places in Parkersburg that are "known" to be
haunted, we decided that it would be worth while to return
someday.  We would love to investigate the Blennerhassett
Hotel, and a local restaurant/bar, the Boreman Wheel House.
