Deadmans Bridge
As the story goes, If you go back St. Johns road in Slippery
Rock and stop on the bridge where a husband and wife were
killed in a tragic wagon accident you shall see car headlights
coming at you and hear a car, but the car disappears and you
hear screams coming at you closer and closer.

Seeming like many other urban legends we heard about,
initially we did not pay much attention to it.  But, one April
evening we were in Slippery Rock and decided to pay a visit
to the bridge and investigate things for ourself.  It was rather
easy to find, since it was very close to a place that we have
investigated several times before, the Old Stone House.

Our two investigators arrived at 8 pm, just after sunset.  The
temperature was moderate at around 42 degrees Fahrenheit
and there was no precipitation.  Solar X-rays were normal and
the geomagnetic field was quite this evening, with a waxing
crescent moon at 4% of full.

Beginning with the standard EMF sweeps, we began taking
photographs and monitoring the air temperature for any
unusual fluctuations.  Using a standard digital voice recorder
with external microphone, EVP work was done on and around
the bridge.  After about an hour the decision was made to get
into one of the cars and began to test the story about
stopping on the bridge and seeing car headlights and
hearing screams.  We made several passes, in both
directions, over the bridge stopping on the bridge each time.
We still used the voice recorder while doing this, to see if
we might record these alleged screams or perhaps some EVP.

Not to our surprise, nothing happened.  Upon reviewing the
evidence after the investigation we did not come up with
anything.  Neither investigator present had any personal
experience, or any feeling that something out of the ordinary
was happening there.  Was it a quiet night?  Or, is this just
another local urban legend?  Well, we know what we think.
