Chicken Alley
Being able to spend some time in Asheville, North Carolina, we
decided that we would have to check out a few of the purportedly
haunted locations there.  Asheville has quite a history of haunted
locals, so narrowing down what we could do during our time there
wasn't all to easy.  One place that we had read about on line was a
placed nick named Chicken Alley.  As the legend goes, the legendary
ghost of Dr. Jamie Smith, who lived at this infamous Asheville locale
known as "Chicken Alley" over a century ago. For decades, countless
sightings of his ghost have been reported. Dr. Smith was killed in a
bar-room confrontation in 1902 at the old historic "Broadway's
Tavern" The tavern was destroyed by fire the following year. The
close vicinity known as Chicken Alley has been victim to his ghost for
over one hundred years!

Unlike many ‘urban legends’ this story actually has a specific location,
person’s name, and time frame.  So, considering that these accounts
could be true, we thought it might be worth some attention.  We
arrived early in the afternoon to scope it out in the daylight.  The alley
was very easy to find, too. It’s located right off of Carolina Lane, in
downtown Asheville.  The buildings lining the alley contain mostly art
shops on the ground level, and apartments/lofts on the upper ones.
We learned that it's considered to be quite a trendy place to reside.
We found the graffiti art-work in the alley to be quite impressive,
overall.  Our time here during the day was only to acquaint ourselves
with the location, we took photos, that was it.  It was our intention to
return later that night, after dark.

We came back to Chicken Alley shortly after sunset, however, it
appeared that the residents of the alley had other plans.  There were
many people gathered in the alley, sitting, hanging out with rather
loud music coming from one, or possibly more, of the apartments.
This put an end to any plans that we had for investigating here
tonight.  Not a total loss, though.  Since we would still be able to return
the next day.

So, that's what we did.  We returned the next night after dark, and all
was quite.  We proceeded with out, non-invasive, investigation.  One
of our main focuses here was on EV.  Overall, everything went well.
We did not come up with any evidence from when we were here.  That
means no EV, either.  Of course, you can't expect things to happen
on command either.  Is this place really haunted?  We don't know.
